Account Evidence Library

The Account Evidence Library is a shared document repository for your organization. Documents uploaded here are private to your account. Selecting the Account Evidence Library as an evidence source allows Hinsley to retrieve its documents for an analysis or standalone forecasting question.

Why Use the Account Library

Most organizations have internal documents that are not publicly available but are essential context for their work: internal research reports, proprietary data exports, organizational strategies, classified briefs, or reference materials unique to your domain.

Documents in the account library are uploaded once. Analyses and standalone questions that select the library can retrieve them without individual attachments. The library can hold:

  • Internal reference documents shared across several analyses
  • Proprietary files that cannot be fetched from a public URL
  • Organizational strategies and research reports used as evidence in selected workflows

Accessing the Library

The Account Evidence Library is accessible to account administrators only. To open it:

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and find the Account Admin section.
  2. Click Account Evidence Library.

The library page lists uploaded files and their processing status. Connected repositories are listed separately in account administration.

If you do not see Account Evidence Library in account administration, the feature has not been enabled for your account. Contact your Hinsley support representative to have it turned on.

Uploading Documents

To upload files to the library, drag and drop them onto the upload area or click Choose files to browse. You can upload up to 25 files in a single batch. Each file must be 10 MB or smaller.

Supported file types: PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, HTML, TSV, ODT.

Hinsley checks for duplicates automatically. If you upload a file that has already been added, you will be notified and the duplicate will not be added again.

Processing and Status Indicators

After upload, each document moves through a processing pipeline before it is available to the AI. The status column on the library page shows where each document is in this process:

  • Queued - The file has been received and is waiting to be processed.
  • Extracting - Hinsley is extracting the text content from the file.
  • Processing - The extracted content is being prepared for use by the AI.
  • Ready - Processing is complete. The document is available for retrieval wherever the library is selected.
  • Failed - Processing encountered an error. Administrators can use the Reprocess option in the document's action menu to retry.

Only documents with a Ready status are used by the AI. Documents in any other state are not included in analysis or chat responses.

Managing Documents

Each document in the library has an action menu (the gear icon on the right side of its row) with the following options:

  • Download - Download the original uploaded file.
  • Reprocess - Retry processing for documents in a Failed state. Only visible to account administrators when a document has failed.
  • Delete - Permanently remove the document from the library. Deleting a document removes it from any analysis or forecasting question that has previously used it. This action cannot be undone.

How the AI Uses the Account Evidence Library

Research and chat can search the account library when it is selected as an evidence source. Questions within an analysis inherit that analysis's selection. Standalone questions use it when it is an account default source.

The key difference between account-level and analysis-level evidence:

  • Account library - Shared within your account. Uploaded once by an admin and available for retrieval by analyses and standalone questions that select it.
  • Analysis evidence - Scoped to a single analysis. Added by analysis collaborators and reflects content specific to that topic. See Evidence: Add Your Own Documents for details.

Account admins can select the library by default for new analyses and standalone questions. Changing this default leaves existing selections unchanged. Deselecting the library later offers a choice to keep or remove documents already collected through it.
